Description:

This USB Atmel AVR DebugWIRE + AVRISP mkII ISP programmer 2-in-1 combo provides the user a highly-flexible,
low-cost Atmel AVR designing and debugging tool.  It's operated by AVR Studio development software.  It's fully
compatible with Atmel's JTAGICE mkII sans the JTAG ICE feature.   It has two working modes: DebugWIRE ICE mode
and AVRISP mkII ISP mode.  The ISP programming mode supports ISP downloading for all JTAG and debugWIRE featured
AVR devices.  The AVR Studio software can be downloaded from Atmel's website.

AVR DebugWIRE allows access to all the powerful features of the AVR microcontroller.

ISP feature allows the user for programming AVR devices in system.  The 'debugWIRE Interface' allows In-System
Debugging (ISD) through a single I/O (RESET) pin of the AVR Microcontroller mounted on a Target Board.  It is available
on many of the newer low pin count ATmega and ATtiny AVR devices.  The RESET pin of the target AVR chip is used for
debugWIRE, leaving all the other I/O pins free for the real target application.

Works with Atmel AVR Studio 4 IDE software via USB virtual comport.
  • DebugWIRE ICE allows the user to debug the firmware which is running in the target chip.  The user is able to step
    through the C or Assembly source code line by line in the AVR Studio.  Because it is not a software simulation
    debugger, so that debugging the in-circuit firmware becomes handy via DebugWIRE interface.
  • The USB port is used both as power supply and data communication, thus it has compact size.   No external power
    adapter is needed.
  • 2-in-1 feature gives the user flexibility and convenience when doing development.
  • The onboard firmware is upgradeable via AVR Studio,  in order to support latest AVR devices.
  • The hardware communicates with AVR studio by USB virtual com port.  So it is easier to install on all windows and
    works more stable than USB AVR dW mkII v1.0.
  • It can be used to debug the Atmega88.  The Atmega88 is pin compatible with ATmega8, the final product can switch
    to the Atmega8 so that to reduce the production cost.
